5 Styling Tips for Your Family Photo Shoot

Let’s capture your family’s precious memories in style and ease with these 5 tips.

1. Start with one outfit

Moms- this is usually you! Start with your outfit first. Pick something that you feel confident and comfortable in, and then coordinate your family’s outfits to yours!

2. Choose a color palette of 3 or more

Avoid '“matchy matchy” outfits. Choose 3 or more colors that most of the outfits can incorporate (using yours as the base!). These colors could be neutrals, cool tones, jewel tones— we recommend avoiding bright and neon colors. See below for some of our favorite color palettes!

3. Mix textures and patterns

You may lean towards keeping everyone in solids, but don’t be afraid of throwing in patterns or textures (think knit or leather!). They key here is that less is more. Keep it simple like a floral dress or a cardigan over a button up. This is a great way to add character and dimension to your photos.

4. Opt for a longer dress

Longer dresses flow nicely and help you to make more natural, comfortable movements.

5. Have fun

Above all, have fun with it! These photos will be precious memories captured and your family’s personality and love should shine through.
