Always do your weekly outfit planning on Sunday evenings, right before the week starts. If Sundays don’t work for you, then find a day that does and stay consistent with it. Finding that magic day that fits your schedule is key to making this practice become just another addition to your weekly routine.

Preparing for the week ahead guarantees a successful week of outfits. Do this by reviewing your calendar beforehand and having it handy while creating outfits that are styled to perfection for your upcoming activities and events.

Secondly, if there is anything we know about living in Oklahoma, it is that our weather tends to be all over the place; 90s, rain, snow and tornados all in a weeks time (okay maybe that is dramatic but we have gotten close to that ha!). All that to say, ensure you have the weekly forecast pulled up on your phone so you can prepare your outfits for whatever weather that week has in store.

Picking out any outfit can be stressful, there are so many choices that it can easily becomes overwhelming. One tactic I teach my clients is to start each outfit with just one piece you love. Easy enough, right?! Whether that is a pair of pants, shoes, a fun top, a chic blazer, a dress or even a statement necklace, just find that special piece to spark your creativity. You will then build your outfit around this fabulous item. With that piece, you will then follow the graph I created below to finish creating your fabulous outfit.

Once the outfit is created, document each completed look by snapping a quick picture. Make sure all the accessories and jewelry is included in the photos. Once you have styled and taken a picture of all your outfits, compile these photos in an album on your phone. This makes it easy to access every morning.

It is time to make them look pretty and 100% ready to throw on when it is time to go, therefore saving you even more time in the morning. Having a wrinkle free outfit is one crucial way to guarantee your look is polished and put together, and who doesn’t want that?! One thing that makes this step 10x easier is if you have a steamer. This can be done in half the time it would take to iron. If you don’t have a steamer, I highly recommend investing in one. It will change your life! This is the one I use and always recommend to my clients. If you aren’t a steamer person, an iron will do the job just as well!

Once your weekly outfits are wrinkle free and ready to go, hang them together and in order in a separate locations it’s easy to grab and go in the morning (the front of your closet, on a clothing rack, in your laundry room, etc.). Since you can’t necessarily hang up your accessories, this is where the photos you snapped will come in handy. You can reference back to these in case you forgot any of the important details. Another way to make this more visually appealing and add an extra level of organization is to use clothing separators for your daily outfits. You can do s by labeling the separators with the days of the week. I have found a fabulous article that has 23 Easy To Make DIY Closet Dividers that you can make yourself.
